Your Role Is Significant

"A leader is one who influences a specific group of people to move in a God-given direction." — J. Robert Clinton

The army had a slogan a few years ago, "Army of One." At first glance it sounds arrogant that one person could represent the army. But think about this. It took only one person, David a shepherd boy, to defeat Goliath in the Old Testament and it took only one smooth stone to eliminate the threat that was causing a nation to tremble and shake with fear.

We sometime have the tendancy to compare our lives with those we see on television or in the public arena and think that our lives are insignificant compared to others. How wrong you are! If you are a believer in Jesus Christ, your life is potentially the most significant life in your sphere of influence.

Leadership is not only about leading armies, or aspiring to the presidency of a corporation or nation, it is all about influence. If you can influence even one person to Jesus Christ, your life is significant for without you there would be one person less in the Kingdom of God and one person more facing eternal punishment and hell.

LOOKING FOR A LEADER

INTRODUCTION

The beginning of the 21st century was marked with apprehension and concern as nations all over the world prepared for possible Y2K events. As we sat and watched the year 2000 ring in, tragedies, calamities and other pre-conceived catastrophes did not materialize. Instead, it was business as usual.

In 2001 we watched in horror as the events of September 11, in three locations within the United States of America, New York, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. changes our lives forever. We saw out of the ashes three distinct and very important leaders emerge: President George W. Bush, Mayor Rudy Guiliani, and most importantly, Dr. Billy Graham, our elder statesman. Dr. Billy Graham was given the honor of speaking at the National Memorial Service on behalf of the body of Christ worldwide. We were looking at a leader.

A question was asked of me during one of our pastoral fellowships, where is God’s leaders today? Is there a prophet in the land that we as the body of Christ can look to for leadership and as a spokesperson for God?

That is a good question.

Where are God’s leaders today? What kind of leadership is the body of Christ presenting on television, radio, satellite, and the internet?

Leadership is a very important subject now in the business world. After the recent scandals which caused many CEO’s and Presidents of successful corporations to spend a time behind bars, business consultants are lecturing and books are abounding on ethical leadership and good, sound business practices.

What about the body of Christ?

I am a student of leadership. The principles and ethics that are endorsed by these “business gurus” are found within the pages of the Old and New Testament of our Lord Jesus Christ. Isn’t it interesting that all moral, business and ethical principles are found within the pages of the Bible?

So where are God’s leaders?

God’s leaders are everywhere, working humbly and without fanfare, sacrificing for the sake of the gospel in America and all nations of the world.

After 40 years of ministry, I am looking forward to the best that is yet to come. I want to encourage you to become a leader after God’s own heart.

It isn’t always easy. The path is not paved with roses. There are times of distress, discouragement and overwhelming obstacles. But God has given His leadership keys to open and unlock the door to a life that is fulfilled and overflowing with God’s abundant favor and success.

I cannot tell you how blessed I am to have traveled such a path to become President of Promise Christian University. And now, my purpose is to raise up the next Generation of leadership for the Lord Jesus Christ.
